"I Do" Tuesday- Engagement Pictures!

So... it is official, Saturday we take our engagement pictures!!!
ahhh I could not be more excited and... Matt could care less.

I know last Tuesday I showed y'all our save the date banner...

and this week, I wanted to show y'all something else we are going to use in our pictures!!
I forgot to take a picture of everything that I used, but it was only like 3 things so I'll just list them...

1. a piece of cut wood (I got mine from Hobby Lobby, only about 6 bucks with a coupon)
2. Chalkboard paint
3. Paint brush
4. Chalk
ok, so I lied it was 4 things :)

Here is what I did...
(be careful, do not scroll to fast, you might miss it!!)

1. paint the wood with the paint

That is it!! Only one step!!

here is what it looked like after I finished and it was all dry!!

I am going to write something on it, but I did not want to post that picture now! I wanted that to be a surprise!!
The best thing about this little project is that you can re-use it again!!  I plan to include it somewhere not only at the reception but somewhere at our house (that we have yet to find??)!!

and, I decided to include a picture of Bodie.  He was jealous that I would not let him get in the other pictures I took!

"I Do" Tuesday- Save the Dates

Remember when I said last week I had a great post planned??  Well this is it!!

With planning our engagement pictures, I have been looking around for cute "Save the Dates" ideas.  I am a sucker for all things Etsy, and I found the cutest burlap banner with the date of the wedding painted on each panel.  I fell in LOVE with it and knew immediately I wanted it to be incorporated into our engagement pictures!!  But the more I looked at it online, the more my mom told me that we could totally make it for less than what we would buy it for!!  After being a little skeptical, we went and bought what we needed to make it, and she was right, it was cheaper to make it ourselves!!  I do not remember the exact cost, but I think it was around 12 dollars!!

Here is what I used:
1. burlap
2. any color paint, I used white and navy blue
3. rope/twine
4. scrap fabric
5. number stencil

First my mom cut out 5 triangles from the burlap and sewed the top over for a spot to put the rope through.  Then she cut out hearts from old fabric scraps that we had and sewed them on 2 of the triangles.

Then I traced our date onto paper and that is what I used as the stencil.

I placed the stencil under each triangle and used a small paint brush to outline the numbers.

Then I went back and painted the insides of each number.  The picture on the left is after the first coat and the right picture is after the second coat.

I then let them dry!

Finally I strung each panel on the piece of rope and this is what I ended up with!!!!

It really only took me about 15 minutes to paint the date then about 15 minutes for them to dry.  It was totally worth it making this ourselves!!!  I love it! and I cannot wait for y'all to see it in our Save the Dates!!!

I hope this inspired y'all to start DIYing and expect more projects because I know I will totally be a DIY bride!!

Bridal Shower number 2 (a little late)

Hey Y'all!!

So I had this fabulous post for today, but then I remembered that I left my phone at HOME (ahhh), and the pictures I need are on my phone!!  But then I remembered that I forgot to post about bridal shower number 2 that was this past May!!!

It has been almost 4 months since this shower and the bride is now a wife!!, but I still wanted to show y'all how her garden/tea party shower turned out!!

We had the shower at a friend's house Memorial day weekend in North Carolina, and it was HOT!!  so hot that we eventually moved inside for gifts and games!!  But the bride/now wife was a good sport and it was a good time with all the girls!!!

Here are a few pictures before we moved inside!!

the layout of the tables

each place setting had flowers and a tag with the initials of the bride and groom

the tables were decorated with flowers, jars, tea pots, and tea cups!!

Have I told y'all how much I LOVE BABYS BREATH???
It is perfect for anything!!!

The drink table (before the drinks were set out).  I painted jars with chalkboard paint that that was the guest's cups and favors!  And if you had not noticed, I cannot get enough of the paper straws, they add that little something extra!!

These are shots of the other table.  They are covered in white table cloths with old feed bag fabric overlays.  My grandma found these when she was cleaning and I fell in love with them!!  She had so many and each one was different colors with different prints!

The food table.  I made garland out of out fabric that matched the colors and hung that up on the deck!

Drinks and desserts

and a shot of most of everyone!!!

I cannot believe that I forgot to post this!!!  This shower was so fun to host with the other bridesmaids and what was better was getting to see some of my sorority sisters that I had not seen since graduation!!!

enjoy!
