Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Showers

This edition of Wedding Wednesday is all about bridal showers!
I have been known to host a few showers in my day, here and here (one day soon I will show y'all my big sister's showers).
But today I get to show y'all my bridal showers!

I have amazing family and friends who threw me 3 showers!!

One would think that during this time I would be snapping pictures like a mad woman, but I regretfully did not take NEARLY enough pictures!!

{Shower 1}
Hosted in Raleigh by 3 of my sorority sisters/bridesmaids
It had a nautical theme, I got to see girls that I had not seen since college, and I had the best time.  Getting to hang out with my sisters was all I needed to make that weekend perfect, but they put together this amazing shower!

my (real) big sister gave me a hanger with my new name for my dress!

{Shower 2}
This shower was hosted by my sister (maid of honor), aunt Brooke (bridesmaid), and Karen (bridesmaid).  This shower was perfect! They kept everything secret and the only clue I had was the invitations. I loved every part of it!!
 Megan, me, Brooke, and Karen

Matt and I have been together for about 7 1/2.  They made a timeline with pictures of our relationship!

 This is hanging in our kitchen!

 The made tons of these pinwheels made out of old books!

homemade macaroons

  my first monogrammed hand towel!!

{Shower 3}
This shower was hosted by the women in Matt's family.
It was a perfect country theme with the most delicious food!!  I had fun meeting some of his family that I had never met before!
I am so sad that I only have 2 pictures of the decorations and the rest are me opening gifts!  Here are the 2 I have!

Ugh!! I am so upset, everything was so cute!!

I may have slacked in the picture taking department, but the hostesses of these showers did not slack on anything!!

Next Wednesday: Bachelorette parties/weekend!!

Enjoy!

Weekend Recap!!

Who does not love Memorial Day??
We get to celebrate the amazing men and women in the armed forces who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom by cooking out, day drinking, learning new games to make day drinking more entertaining, and spending time with our family and friends.

We started the weekend off with a graduation party.  While there, the boys played the normal games of corn hole and beer pong while the girls were indulging in these...
there were quite a few more, I forgot to snap a picture until this was all that was left!!

back to the boys...  Later in the night one of them pulled out this game... no one knows the name of it so I will just call it "Beer Frisbee".

The basic rules are to knock the beer bottle off the pole by throwing a frisbee at it.  If it fall the bottle and frisbee must be caught in order for the other team not to gain any points.  The most entertaining part of the game was watching to boys jump, dive, and do just about anything to not let both things hit the ground.

Sorry for the poor quality of this picture, but I had to include it, if you look, they both failed miserably at catching the bottle and frisbee.

Fast forward to Sunday...
We are sitting at my Ninnin's eating lunch and Matt and I are describing Beer Frisbee to everyone and convinced them to make this to play later at the cook out my Mom and Dad were hosting.

We made it, and it was a hit!!
Brooke and I decided to play against my sister's fiance and my husband and to their surprise, we were not half bad!!
The game was tied, and It was the boy's turn to throw.  Matt threw to frisbee and it was coming right towards me.  I just knew I was going to catch it... I just did not expect to catch it with my FACE!!
That stupid frisbee hit me dead in the mouth!!!

Sorry for this horrible picture!!
It does not look bad, but it hurt!!

I quit playing after my injury, but I did remember to take a picture with my great teammate!

oh yea... my sister gets married SATURDAY!! Lets hope my lip looks better... or that her photographer can photoshop me back to normal!!

I had to include these two cuties having a ball drawing with chalk on everything but the sidewalk!!

I hope everyone had a fantastic and injury free Memorial Day!!

Enjoy!

Five on Friday: Memorial Day weekend!

Hey y'all!! To celebrate Friday and this 3 day holiday weekend I have decided to participate in my first (and certainly not last) link-up!!

blogblogblogblog

 {1}
I am beyond excited to have a 3 day weekend to celebrate this Memorial Day Weekend!

and a 3 and a 1/2 day work week next week because my big sister is getting MARRIED!!!
I have the perfect picture to share for this, but Meg is in her wedding dress!

{2}
My amazing parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this week!
I cannot wait for Matt and I to be able to celebrate this huge milestone in our life together!

{3}
I am keeping my fingers crossed that this weekend we will finally start to hang pictures and really decorate! We (and by we I mean I) wanted to wait until after the wedding to really start decorating because so much stuff we used for the wedding I knew I wanted to use to decorate with.  Well now that the wedding is over, and the photos have been ordered it is time to start hanging those suckers (and so much more) up!!
Stay tuned for updates!!!

{4}
Matt and I get to hang out with these two every Tuesday night!!  We love these two like they are our own, but it is nice to "give them back" when their momma comes!!

{5}
This technically should be for next week, but who is keeping track!
My big brother and sister-in-law get into town next week and I cannot wait to see them!!  This is the second time in 6 weeks that they have visited, first for my wedding week and now for my sister's! I kinda wish we had more weddings this summer so we could see them more!!

Happy long weekend y'all!!

Enjoy!

Wedding Wednesday: Engagements

I promise I will not bore/annoy ya'll with a new wedding post everyday, maybe every other day!!
But I figured I should start from the beginning with our engagment photos!!
Matt popped the question Friday June 29, 2012 in the most perfect way possible!!

Looking back I wish I would have taken more pictures, but of course I had NO idea what was going on!!!

Here is how things went down...

I helped my aunt all day working on my little cousin's first birthday party, and all day Brooke asked me to ask Matt if she could borrow wooden pallets from the farm.  It was about 3pm before I actually asked him and of course he said yes.  So I arranged (in my head) for them to go pick them up while I stayed to work on more stuff.
 Then, Matt texted me "Are you dressed to go to dinner?"  I texted him back, asking if nike shorts and a t-shirt were acceptable dinner attire, and he said "Sure, we are just going somewhere in town."  This was not a weird question, because I had been helping Brooke all day and he knew I would be in comfy clothes!
So, the plan was for them to head to the farm, while my uncle, cousin and myself headed to dinner.  When it was finally time for dinner I looked awful!! I was wearing an over-sized tee, nike shorts, hair thrown on top of my head, and day old makeup.  But I did not care, we were just going somewhere in town.
When Matt came to get Brooke, he insisted that I ride with him and Brooke and Jason would meet us at the farm. This did not make sense to me, but I went along with their plans.
*Luckily by now I decided to steal a shirt from Brooke so I did not look completely horrible*
We finallly got to the farm and we were waiting on Jason and Brooke to get there so we just began to drive around until they got there.  We stopped at a patch of string beans that he planted and I got out of the truck so I could get a closer look and Matt followed.  While I was picking some of the beans, Matt said "Well, we did not come here to look at pallets." I turned around and he was holding a ring and then he got on his knee and asked me to marry him!!!  Before he could get out "will you marry me" I was in tears and so super happy!!  I think he took the tears as a bad thing because he asked me if I hated the ring!! Which was NOT true!!  My ring is perfect and so was his proposal!!!

It is funny to look back on the day and see some of the "signs" of what was to come! For example, Although it was one of the hottest days of the summer, Matt was sweating so much!!  It's was kinda gross, but also sweet to see how nervous he was!!
He was very quiet and kept his hands in his pockets/near his pockets even while we were driving!
He was worried about what I was wearing!  I thanked him so much for sending me that text! It made me think to at least change my shirt and fix my hair!

Sorry that is so long!! Now for the fun part, PICTURES!!
These are from the day he proposed!

These are our professional engagement pictures!!
Our photographer was Jessica Maida, and she was amazing!!!

high school sweethearts!

 This was our Save the Date!

Finally!!!

I promise, not every wedding post will be this long!!!

Enjoy!

belated weekend recap: Megan's Bachelorette Party and more!

So... I definitely started this post yesterday, but I was too lazy to find all of the pictures and write more than a sentence!

So today I will be a little less lazy and share my weekend, with lots of pictures!!
wouldn't you rather look at pictures anyway?!?

This weekend I celebrated my big sister's bachelorette party with several of her closest friends!!  We headed to diner at a Mexican Tapas bar then headed out to a local bar!

Before dinner
our "bling" for the night!

 These are just a few of the MANY foods we ordered!!  I still cannot figure out why I took a picture of the cheese board, because I HATE cheese so much!!

after dinner we headed back to our room until it was time to head out!!

Once at the bar, we quickly claimed our spot on the dance floor/at the bar!!

Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Heart!!
We thought we were part of Captain Planet's team!!

Cool photobomber in the background!

It is safe to say we do not know how to take a "normal" picture!!

We left the bar and of course had to spot in for pizza, I felt like I was back in college!!!

Sunday we woke up (some in better conditions than others!!) and headed back South!!
Brooke had given AG horse back riding lesson for Christmas and Sunday was her scheduled lesson! It was a "family" lesson so she was able to bring 2 other people!! She chose me and one of her best friends!!

There was the cutest pig just laying around!! Her name was Clementine

My view for a while!

This was the first time I had EVER been this close to a horse!  I was nervous in the beginning, but I kept telling myself to calm down because the horse can sense fear (I think)!  After getting on and getting used to the feeling, I had a blast!!!
My horse was a little lazy so we stood and watched the girls for a while!!

When we finally made it home, I hung out with this cutie and introducted him to his first bo'berry biscuit!!!

Despite what the pictures show, he loved it!!

After dinner Sunday we went to watch a movie, I was so tired that I did not make it past the opening credits!

Have a great week!

Enjoy,
